Grand Hotel & Kurhaus : authenticity and charm

In addition to its affiliation to the Swiss Historic Hotels, since March 2009, Grand Hotel & Kurhaus holds one new label : “Typically Swiss Hotels” (250 establishments have this label in Switzerland among which 43 in Wallis).

In adequacy with this label, the hotel fills the following criteria : an authentic and traditional architecture  (it was built with materials of the area, in perfect harmony with the landscape), interior’s decoration characteristic of Wallis, food proposal based on local products, wines of the area, an idyllic situation far away from pollution and civilization.

The Kurhaus Hotel is located above the Arolla village at an altitude of approximately 2100 m. It is surrounded by a magnificent forest of Arolle pines. The building dates 1896 but the interior has been completely redone in 1979 with full modern comfort. The rooms are nicely decorated and have at least one wall covered with wood from local trees : Arolle and Meleze issued from the old beams that were recovered during the transformation. The large terrasse is an ideal place to relax. The view on the surrounding summits : Pigne d'Arolla, Mont-Collon, Aiguille de la Tza, Dents de Veisivi, ... is wonderful. Access to the hotel is through a private road and there is no foreign traffic and associated noise. Walking paths through the forest allow to walk in a constantly changing landscape. A small lake, multi-century Arolles, thousands of flowers (rhododendrons, gentianes, anemones, ...) will comply the nature and flower lovers. The hotel is located at the start point of many walks and paths to the alpine huts, The ski tracks and lifts can be accessed directly from the hotel, putting skis on and off right in front of the hotel.
In addition to the usual facilities, the hotel includes a large conference room that allow the organization of seminars, congresses, weddings, anniversaries in a magnificent environement. A free wireless Internet access is available for our hosts (WiFi 802.11g).
